Meet Dr. Alfred Baum

Alfred T. Baum, DDS, MSD
Dr. Alfred T. Baum completed his undergraduate work and graduated from dental school at The Ohio State University in 1946. After a short period of time in private general practice, he accepted a commission as Lieutenant, JG in the United States Navy. He served with Marine Corps Aviation for one year and served at sea aboard the light cruiser USS Dayton as dental officer and hospital officer for a year. Dr. Baum then began his orthodontic training at the University of Washington and graduated with a Master of Science in Dentistry degree in Orthodontics in 1949. In 1950, he began his practice in Westwood Village.
Dr. Baum lectured as assistant professor at University of Southern California dental school for 19 years. He participated in the opening of the orthodontic department at University of California, Los Angeles and lectured there for five years. Dr. Baum lectured and taught worldwide and published more than 20 scientific papers. He was also a member of the attending staff at Cedars Sinai Medical Center for 25 years and is now Emeritus.
Dr. Baum is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontists, the only certifying board recognized by the American Dental Association for the specialty of orthodontics.
